A GUIDE TO MEETING BS 8629

BS 8629 is the code of practice for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of evacuation alert systems for use by fire and rescue services in buildings containing flats. This code of practice is mandated in Scotland and England for new build blocks of flats. This CPD gives an overview of the main clauses. It covers the scope and definitions of BS 8629 and explains how to divide the building into evacuation alert zones, where to site the devices, the requirements for evacuation alert control and indicating equipment, the responsibilities of the installer, and how to commission and hand over the system.
